- The Boyfriend Creche (official title yet to be confirmed) will be part of the Intu brand that has currently bought out all major shopping centers like The Trafford Centre, Arndale and Metro Center. Given that they've had the budget to acquire all of these places, it seems likely they will have the budget to create this service for men.
- IKEA have tested out this service in their Australian stores. Calling it 'Manland' the same principles apply, and men are left to relax and recreate whilst their partners look around the store. Women have a buzzer and have to collect their partners after half an hour of them being in the 'creche'. Moreover, the following article makes the good point about how this service could potentially be offensive to gay couples, as the 'Manland' doesn't make any suggestions about including gay men or women. This is something that would have to be considered if I took the idea forward.
- The following article from The Guardian outlines how IKEA's take on the 'Manland' is sexist and a ridiculous concept. There may be some bias in this given that it is written by a woman, however it is good to gauge some form of opinion from the sex unable to use the creche.
- This article shows that The Trafford Center has already opened up a male creche on a trail basis, although it doesn't state whether it was a success, they mention that it's something they've been wanting to try for ages, suggesting they would be on board to create this service again.
- It's not just shops and shopping centers that have tried this scheme, a small cafe also tried out the service at Christmas time 2012. The cafe opened it's doors to male partners to give them a break whilst women continued with their shopping habits. The cafe offered a cloakroom service for shopping bags and even a children's menu so children could also be left with their fathers.
